The Philadelphia Eagles will start Joe Milton in Sunday's game against the New York Giants, according to sources familiar with the decision. This move places a third quarterback at the helm for the franchise this season.
Milton replaces Tanner McKee, who has started the previous three contests. The shift marks a rapid change in direction for the team. Head coach Nick Sirianni stated on Monday that the Eagles would retain McKee as the starter.
Philadelphia signed Milton from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Oct. 16. The transaction occurred one day after the Eagles placed Jalen Hurts on injured reserve. Medical staff later revealed multiple blood clots in both of Hurts' lungs, an injury that is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the year.
The Eagles currently hold a 2-6 record and sit last in the NFC East. They have lost six straight games. McKee completed 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions over his last three starts.
Milton spent the previous season as Dak Prescott's backup in Dallas. He appeared in four games off the bench. The Cowboys waived him earlier this year after he lost the competition for the backup role to Sam Howell, but they returned him to the practice squad days later. New England originally drafted Milton in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft.
