City officials have approved the start of a second phase of research regarding the future of the Huntridge Theater in Las Vegas.

A staff member confirmed the move to the Historic Preservation Commission on Wednesday, October 28. The first phase of this effort has already concluded. The new study will examine the costs required to restore the building. It will also evaluate the wider network of cultural facilities in the area.

Jay Dapper, the developer behind the project, presented an update to the commission. He stated that no renovation work has occurred on the theater during 2026. Dapper confirmed his intention to transfer ownership of the property to the Huntridge Conservatory, a nonprofit organization.

Commissioners inquired about the funding status of the upcoming work. The city staff member verified that phase two is moving forward. This study aims to create a master plan for performance-based venues. It will also define the support systems necessary for those spaces.

Dapper told the group that he expects the project framework to be finalized once the second study is complete. He did not provide a specific timeline for the renovation work. He plans to seek a schedule during a call scheduled for the week beginning October 30.

The legal agreements, or covenants, governing the building will remain active until the end of 2030. Commissioners noted that discussions about extending these agreements could occur in the future.
