Visitors to the Cobb County Animal Services shelter in Marietta, Georgia, now face a modified entry process for meeting prospective pets. The shelter prefers that adopters schedule a time in advance, though it will still accept walk-ins. This change aims to balance the workload between staff, volunteers, and the animals in the building.

The shelter is currently looking for a permanent home for Kit, a three-month-old female domestic short hair. Her fur is a mix of orange tabby and white, and she weighs three pounds. She is identified in the system with the ID number 23798 and is currently in cage 614. Her status is listed as active, meaning she is available for adoption.

Cobb County Animal Services stated that the shift in policy helps manage staffing levels. By prioritizing scheduled visits, the facility ensures that staff can adequately attend to both the pets and the people in the building. If a walk-in arrives at the same time as a scheduled appointment, the person with the booking will be seen first. The shelter asked visitors to be understanding of this priority system.

The appointment requirement does not apply to every type of visitor. Those surrendering an animal they previously owned must still make an appointment. However, citizens who found a stray, lost owners trying to reclaim a pet, or those picking up an animal do not need to book a slot in advance. These visitors are encouraged to come directly to the shelter.

The online booking system is accessible around the clock for those who wish to plan a visit. The facility is located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta, GA 30008. For questions regarding the new policy or to check on specific animals, the shelter provided the phone number (770) 499-4136.

Kit is one of the animals listed on the shelter's website under the Cat of the Day feature. The shelter emphasizes that adopting a pet is a long-term commitment. It advises potential owners to consider the step carefully before bringing a new family member into their household.
