Florida Midterms: Trump heads to Daytona Beach
The President will campaign for Byron Donalds and other Republican candidates in a state where the governor's race is tighter than it was in 2022.

President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday.
The stop marks a key event in his midterm campaign schedule. Trump plans to endorse Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican candidate for governor. Donalds is challenging David Jolly, a Democrat and former Republican Congressman.
Pollsters view the governor's contest as competitive, even though Donalds holds a lead. This dynamic contrasts sharply with the 2022 election, when Gov. Ron DeSantis secured reelection by a margin of nearly 20 points.
Trump is also expected to support congressional candidates. Among them is Sen. Ashley Moody, who faces state Rep. Angie Nixon in a special election. DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio became Secretary of State.
The President will also speak in the district of Rep. Randy Fine, a freshman who took office in April 2025. Fine won a special election to replace Mike Waltz, who is now the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Florida voluntarily redrew its congressional maps before the midterms. Republicans currently control 20 of the state's 28 House seats, a number that may increase due to the new district lines.
