A chill grips the region Friday night as temperatures drop near freezing, setting the stage for a sharp turn in the weather. The contrast will be stark by the weekend. Warm air will push into the area just in time for the firearm deer season opener.

Frost and patchy fog are the main concerns for early Saturday morning. Scattered clouds will linger, increasing the likelihood of ground frost in several locations. Visibility may drop as fog rolls in, particularly east of the Red River. Drivers should plan for reduced sightlines during the commute.

The mild pattern takes hold once the sun rises. Saturday highs will reach 58 degrees. Sunday follows with a high of 54 degrees and a low of 35 degrees. These readings sit above normal for early November. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny, and the area is expected to stay dry.

The warm trend continues into next week. Lows will generally stay in the 30s, while highs will range from the upper 40s to the low 50s. A dip in temperatures is possible in the middle of the week. Cool Canadian air may slide into the region, bringing slightly cooler days.

Rain remains unlikely through mid-November. High pressure is expected to hold the area, keeping conditions stable and dry. Some weather models suggest a clipper system might sweep through the Northern Plains around midweek. If that system arrives, it could bring isolated showers. Meteorologists are monitoring that potential development closely.
