One hundred thirteen drones were intercepted over the Voronezh region during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. Aleksandr Gusev, the governor of Voronezh Oblast, stated that air defense units downed more than 70 of these aircraft directly over the city. The remaining 43 were shot down in the wider urban area and surrounding districts. This volume represents one of the larger aerial engagements recorded in the region in recent weeks.
Ukrainian OSINT channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ identified two specific industrial targets. The Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, or VASO, was struck. VASO operates within the Ilyushin Aviation Complex division of the United Aircraft Corporation. The facility manufactures aviation components and produces the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner. The second primary target was the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant. This facility belongs to the Sibur group, a major Russian corporation, and produces synthetic rubbers and polymer materials.
Governor Gusev confirmed fires at several industrial businesses to the Russian media outlet Interfax. He did not initially name the specific companies in his official statement. Gusev described the incidents as occurring without significant consequences. This characterization contrasts with damage reports from other observers and local media. He noted that fires also started in a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative.
The governor reported that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city. Russian media outlet Astra provided specific impact locations. A drone hit the Galereya Chizhova business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. The publication captured video of the explosion. Astra also identified explosion sites near residential buildings on 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street.
Further damage was documented at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street. A car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street sustained fire damage to at least ten cars. Astra readers reported hearing explosions and air defense operations for over an hour. The city remained shrouded in smoke throughout the engagement. Residents noted that no formal air-raid warning had been issued prior to the strikes.
The attack targeted facilities linked to Russia's aviation and petrochemical sectors. VASO and Voronezhsintezkauchuk play key roles in the country's military and economic infrastructure. Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the damage to public and private property.
