Diana Horun, a 23-year-old senior combat medic, died in Donetsk Oblast after a Russian drone strike.
Born in 2003 in the village of Hnizdychiv in Lviv Oblast, Horun served on a contract basis as a senior combat medic for a strike UAV company. Her death was confirmed by the Hnizdychiv hromada, the local administrative unit where she was from.
A sister-in-arms posted on Threads that Horun was the best medic she had ever known. The soldier wrote, "We are already avenging her, we will remember her." Another brother-in-arms described Horun as ambitious and noted that she maintained hope and positivity despite past hardships. He recalled missing their philosophical conversations and her laughter.
The Hnizdychiv hromada stated that Horun chose a difficult path to defend her homeland. They noted she took responsibility for protecting Ukraine and stood alongside those facing danger daily. The group said her choice to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers demonstrated her courage and strength of spirit.
Poet and soldier Oleksii Dehtiarov was also recently killed in action. Horun’s service in the strike UAV company placed her in direct support of drone operations in the conflict zone.
