Heidi Klum required five to six hours to don the massive prosthetic hand that served as her costume for her annual Halloween party in New York on Saturday. The event marked the 25th year of the widely publicized gathering.
The model was unrecognizable beneath the giant, blood-soaked appendage. Only her eyes and mouth remained visible, with blood dripping from her lips as she extended her tongue. The top of the hand featured dangling ligaments and tendons, and she was assisted by several people wearing blood-stained hazmat suits.
Klum designed the costume to resemble her own left hand, complete with long red nails and a thumb ring. She included her engagement ring and wedding band on the prosthetic fingers. A tattoo of her husband’s name, Tom Kaulitz, appeared on the ring finger, along with detailed palm lines and veins.
The concept originated when Klum examined her hand last year and imagined fitting her body inside it. She posted hints on Instagram earlier on Saturday while the bloodied prosthetics were applied to her face. Kaulitz, a musician, did not attend the party because he was on tour.
Klum noted that carrying the heavy structure was the most difficult part of the experience. She previously went viral in 2022 for arriving at the party in a slithering worm costume at the end of a fishing line. Past outfits have included Medusa, a peacock, a Transformer, a Thriller werewolf, and the Hindu goddess Kali.
