The Department of Homeland Security reported that the U.S. Secret Service arrested a man Thursday after finding three firearms in his vehicle near the White House. Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, an undocumented Venezuelan immigrant, was taken into custody on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C., for carrying weapons and threatening to kill President Donald Trump.
Agents approached the parked car after observing suspicious behavior. During the confrontation, the suspect stated that he heard voices in his head instructing him to travel to the capital and kill the president. The officers determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. Guanipa Chrinos admitted to having weapons inside the car.
A search of the vehicle revealed a rifle and two other guns, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition. The DHS described the arrest as a response to the specific threat and the physical evidence found in the car.
Guanipa Chrinos now faces multiple charges, including carrying a rifle outside a home or business and three counts of illegal transport of a firearm. He also faces charges for unregistered weapons, carrying a pistol without a license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft, and receiving stolen property.
Following the arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement submitted a detention order to the U.S. Marshals Service. The agency confirmed that Guanipa Chrinos remains in federal custody while he awaits further proceedings on the criminal and immigration charges.
