The 13th annual One Loud Voice conference concluded Thursday at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi organized the gathering to bring together state leaders and local advocates. The event focused on strengthening the state’s response to child abuse.
The three-day program included discussions on prevention, investigation, and treatment. Participants also addressed support systems for victims. The group included advocates, law enforcement officials, and mental health professionals.
Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch participated in a panel on the state’s response strategy. She described the department’s Children’s Justice Division and its investigators. Fitch stated that the office examines cases from multiple angles, including human trafficking and child exploitation. She also referenced the fentanyl strike force and the danger of single-pill overdoses. “We believe in making our children a priority,” Fitch said. “So, we look out after them, their safety, protection, and we do it on all levels with great partners.”
The panel also featured Karla Tye, CEO of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi. Sean Tindell, the former Public Safety Commissioner, also took part in the discussion. Tye and Tindell addressed the necessity of coordinated efforts among various agencies.
Speakers emphasized that collaboration is essential for protecting children. They urged organizations to maintain strong partnerships. The conference aimed to reinforce child advocacy efforts across the state.
The event ended with a focus on continuing these inter-agency connections. Leaders left the venue after the final session on Thursday.
