Dominic Olivares will serve 100 days in county jail for his role in producing child pornography.
The 30-year-old former Greenville police officer entered a guilty plea on Wednesday to two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped six other charges, which included first- and second-degree exploitation counts. The judge handed down two consecutive suspended prison sentences ranging from six to 17 months. Olivares will avoid incarceration for those terms unless he breaches the conditions of his eight-year supervised probation. He is also required to register as a sex offender under state law.
Olivares was hired by the Greenville police department in May 2020. A department spokeswoman stated that he was fired on Aug. 5, 2021. That dismissal occurred two months after the State Bureau of Investigation began looking into a complaint against him. Olivares was arrested in September 2025 by the SBI. The arrest warrants alleged he used a 16-year-old girl to create videos showing her in sexual activity. The original charges included two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation, three counts of second-degree, and three counts of third-degree.
The case was handled in court in Greenville, N.C. Olivares remains free on probation but must complete his 100-day jail term under the state’s Misdemeanant Confinement Program.
