The Green Bay Packers (5-3) defeated the Carolina Panthers (3-4) 27-19 on Thursday night at Lambeau Field. Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns while Josh Jacobs scored on a 4-yard reception and a 1-yard run.

The Packers committed three turnovers but maintained control after scoring touchdowns on three of their first four possessions of the game. Love threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Tucker Kraft to give Green Bay a 6-3 lead. A 53-yard catch by Christian Watson set up Jacobs’ running score, which put the visitors ahead 13-10 early in the second quarter.

Matthew Golden caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from the left corner of the end zone to extend the Green Bay lead to 20-10. Love later connected with Jacobs to make the score 27-10. Green Bay’s lead shrank when Zakee Wheatley intercepted a Love pass to Golden in the end zone during the fourth quarter.

The interception sparked a Carolina comeback. Bryce Young threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Coker on a fourth-and-3 play with 5:37 remaining, cutting the deficit to 27-19. Young’s subsequent 2-point conversion attempt was incomplete.

Carolina regained possession at its own 45-yard line and lost the ball on downs at midfield with 2:41 left. The Panthers received one final chance from their own 20-yard line with 22 seconds remaining and no timeouts. A sack by Dani Dennis-Sutton ended the drive and the game.

Young finished with 23 of 31 completions for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Chuba Hubbard rushed for 81 yards on 22 carries and added a touchdown and seven receptions for 38 yards. Love also ran for 39 yards on 21 carries against a run defense ranked last in the NFL.

Several Milwaukee Brewers players attended the game one night after winning the World Series. Brandon Woodruff carried the Commissioner’s Trophy onto the field before the second quarter. The team also honored former president and CEO Bob Harlan during halftime. Harlan served as Packers president from 1989 to 2008 and died on March 5 at age 89.

The Panthers host the Denver Broncos on Nov. 8. The Packers travel to face the New England Patriots on the same date.
